Synopsis

How long is forty-seven years?

Not long, of course, in the cosmological order of things, but eons on the human scale. Forty-seven years has constituted a lifetime for billions; while uncountable others have experienced the sting of death long before achieving that modest age. Many have been born, grown into schoolchildren, then into wives or husbands, raised families, and watched their grandchildren begin their own exciting, unpredictable journey through life.

And many others have experienced the sudden emergence of a mental image, common to much of humanity, so vivid and real that the passage of many years is erased at light speed. It is a memory, only appearing occasionally, often in a dream, or during a fleeting thought brought on by hearing a once so familiar name.

It is the haunting, often intoxicating, sometimes painful memory of a first true love!
