The Blind Gander

Synopsis

The gander is an adult male goose. He's somewhat of a proud animal, opinionated, wild, wants to always be in control, and seldom backs out of a fight. This description also perfectly illustrates man and his distant regard to his plight; he thinks he knows about everything he sees, yet his vision is only truly effective when he submits to God. In Teke Monono's transcendental book of poetry, The Blind Gander, he shares his pain, tears, joy, laughter, and fulfillment in walking with God. Though man has to 'fly' by faith, this can seem daunting. But through his poetry, Teke expresses that even though blind flight is sometimes an unbearable thought, flight does not have to be a struggle. It does not have to be done alone, for God's hand always leads.
