Synopsis

In the 1970s and 80s, control of the directions taken by the American medical establishment was being increasingly maneuvered away from doctors and patients, and into the hands of diverse healthcare lobbyists. Profits began to eclipse patient welfare; massive changes in the healthcare system created new -- and sometimes nefarious -- opportunities. Drs. Ben Babin, Hiro Furyama, Dan Creed and their colleagues, attempting to create a new model for chronic pain treatment, become unexpectedly enmeshed in a far-reaching criminal conspiracy. Pain Money is the tale of an unlikely but dedicated group of men drawn together as they endeavor, against all odds, to simply do the right thing.
