Synopsis

Civil Renegades is the first novel by Stephen Faulkenberry, set in a vast galaxy whose primary civilization, made up of nearly 60 trillion people, is known as the Civil Society. A wide-reaching teleportation network known as the "arc network" pervades most of the solar systems, allowing people to travel near-instanenously between worlds. Jester Barrow, one of the few humans left, is waiting to be executed, though he does not remember his crime. Through a series of incredible events, he escapes and is eventually drafted as a shadow agent for Civil Progression, the espionage arm of the Society. Along with an android and several other members of his team, he is sent to track down the perpetrators of mass terror attacks being committed across the galaxy. What he finds along the way makes him question the leadership of those who govern the Society as well as his own mysterious past. In the end, he and his unlikely group of friends must decide if the truth is worth fighting for.
