Synopsis

In 1963, Dick Gibson, a Denver businessman, engaged some of the world's finest jazz musicians to play at Aspen. He scheduled different combinations of musicians, invited jazz lovers from across the country, and his parties took hold, buoying careers of many musicians. One of Gibson's early jazz party fans was Al White.

Al White's love of jazz started at his mother's bluesy piano, and from the 1930s recordings that were her solace. A drum player since the age of 8, White dreamed of joining a jazz band. While he found his vocation in cotton, White found his love in jazz and his avocation as jazz photographer is now celebrated in Jazz Party.
