Synopsis

It is almost impossible for accounting professionals to keep abreast of the flood of issuances by FASB and AICPA, as well as the numerous interpretations and bulletins explaining them, and the activities of the SEC and EITF. Accountants continue to rely on single, authoritative references to provide answers to all reasonable questions on accounting and financial reporting. Although FASB is the primary source of authoritative accounting guidance, other sources continue to emerge and the importance of the AICPA, SEC, GASB, and Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF) as regulatory bodies continues to grow. As a result, accountants find it necessary to rely on guidance provided by the EITF and AICPA SOPs and guides.
