Synopsis

After The Civil War, From 1865 Until Sometime After 1875, During A Period Called Reconstruction, The Southern States, Which Had Been Known As The Confederate States Of America, Were Controlled By The Federal Government. During This Time, Conditions In The South Were Generally Unpleasant. Amos Garfunkel, A Jewish Peddler From Vienna, Austria, Had Been Working At His Uncle's Mercantile Business In New York City. However, His Uncle Eventually Instructed Him To Travel To Savannah, Georgia, In Order To Obtain, Sell, And Trade In Goods That Had Been Obtained As A Direct Consequence Of The Civil War. During The Time That He Was Peddling In The South, Amos Traveled Under The Protection Of A Union Regiment. While Visiting A Small Community In Nash County, North Carolina, Known As The Gallberry, Amos Discovered Monetary Opportunity In The Tobacco Plant. Despite Being Betrothed To Alicia, Who He Had Temporarily Left In Austria, Amos Met And Fell In Love With Martha, Who Was A Schoolteacher Living In A Small Schoolhouse In The Gallberry. Amos And Martha Had Two Children Together - Buck And Et - And Their Fates Were Decided By Amos's Decision To Abandon His Family In The South In Order To Return To Austria. Circumstances Later Forced The Children To Runaway Into The Forest Where They Took Care Of Themselves. The Snowbirds Is About The Foolish Decisions That We Make As Adults, Which Are Often Influenced By The Will Of Our Loved Ones, And It Is About How These Decisions Can Shape Our Destiny, And The Destinies Of Our Children And Their Children, Well Into The Future.
